Elsecar Railway - (2nd - 3rd September 2006)
Our second consequitive visit to Elsecar's annual 40's weekend.
The station was setup for dual purposes this time. A partisan attack in Poland and a combined allied attack on a German held station in France.
Once more 8./Kompanie guarded the station, with help from 21st Panzer and other friends. Some excellent pyros once again.
A great event to get into character (especially our german speaking members). Thanks to the public for making it a superb interactive weekend - despite the weather on the Saturday. Roll on next year.

Brownhills Military Show - (22nd - 23rd July 2006)
In it's first year in a new annual show, Brownhills didn't quite pull the public that was expected. Even so, despite the heat-wave some good training was put in by the boys (and girls).
A small skirmish was put on each day which was split into 2 parts. The first a minor recce by French Resistance and then a larger meeting with a mixture of Yanks and Brits to simulate an attack on a fuel dump in France.
Schützenreihe and Schützenkette maneuvers we're practiced, which seemed to work well even though we were operating without an MG team.
Hopefully next year (if we're invited) the show will have a larger attendance and we can bring along some Soviets to engage.

Imphal Barracks - (15th July 2006)
Imphal Barracks in York was an accumulation of re-enactors and interesting side-shows. 8./ Kompanie provided Living History and a small battle to cap it off.
The battle, although disappointing appeared to please those in higher positions. Due to a miss-drop we had none of our allies to battle against which caused problems. The 21st Panzer managed to organise some WW1 boys and our Russians also took part (many thanks to those involved) and along with the pyros, we blew the crowd away - not literally!
Many useful contacts were formed during the day and the highlight was meeting Bernhard, a german veteran. He was a Leutnant Engineer, flying Condors during the war and participated in drilling our new recruits. He turned out to be quite a ladies man, proving that at eighty you can still go out on the loose! |

Tynemouth Castle - (24th-25th June 2006)
Living History on Saturday and Sunday with a public battle on the Sunday. Local School Visit on Saturday with talks.
The setting at Tynemouth castle was impressive being right on the sea and with its ruined priory and castle. The only problem being that as it is built on a headland the weather can be a bit unpredictable as we saw on Sunday, however many of us have faced far worse weather in the winter campaigns and we looked on those with greatcoats and winter parkers with great envy.
We set up a full roadblock and inspected and stamped all papers (these having been passed out at the main castle gate) of people wishing to pass.
On Sunday despite the weather the unit mucked in and put together an emergency fry up over the fire in “the big pan”, everyone appreciated it and we were soon raring to go. The battle, despite previous intelligence turned out to be a minor skirmish. Our firepower was quite low (due to unfunctional K98s and being out of supply). Many of those who did have a firer were overrun early on but a tactical withdrawal managed to let us fight another day.
