M40 pattern in field grey wool. Must be exact reproductions from an approved supplier. No Swedish conversions permitted.

Service Shirt (Heereshemd)
Must be grey jersey or cotton pullover type with or without breast pockets and have correct long pointed collar and pressed paper buttons.
Must be an exact reproduction from an approved supplier. No "Tropical" or Bundeswehr shirts permitted. No insignia to be worn on shirts. If ‘non’ regulation (I.e civilian 40’s style) must be kept covered with tunic.

Belt & Braces
Reproduction webbing and leather trouser belt and/or original or reproduction issue
grey elasticated braces or period civilian braces, must be button on type, not clip-

Socks (Socken)
Exact reproductions of the grey wool issue socks with white size rings preferred, but not essential. Long wool socks are ideal and available from most Outdoor pursuit shops.
Standard Uniform Requirement
This is what members are expected to obtain within their first year of membership.

Great Coat (Mantel)
Field grey wool, M36 or M40 pattern, must be either original or an exact reproduction. (M36 Preferred)

Optional Uniform Requirement
This is for members with the standard uniform already complete, that may wish to bring to shows. Please note that not all optional uniform may be allowed at particular shows due to period being portrayed etc.

Poncho/Shelter Quarter (Zeltbahn)
M31 poncho/shelter quarter in '"splinter" camouflage. Must be either original in good serviceable condition (remember, you will be sleeping under it!) or an approved reproduction.
Worn either rolled and attached with two leather or webbing straps on the back of
the belt, on the "D" rings of the "Y" straps or on the assault frame. No Tan Water
Zeltbahnen-
Repro is best as not full of holes and generally cheaper.

Gloves (Handschuhe)
Grey ribbed wool with white size rings, original, or modern manufacture that are virtually identical minus the rings.
Not many suppliers and grey / black wool gloves are fine.

Headover (Toque)
Grey wool headover; can be East or West German surplus which are virtually identical.

Jersey
Grey wool with dark green bands around neck and cuffs, V or round neck.

Herringbone Uniform
Summer-
This is an optional extra and in addition to a wool uniform.

Reversible Suit
Padded jacket and trousers worn over wool uniform in winter. Can be either Mouse Grey, or Splinter camouflage and must be either original or an exact reproduction. Separate hood and mittens also available.
No reversible jackets to be worn at summer tactical events.

Felt & Leather Boots
Designed to be worn with the above suit. Must be either original or early East German

Can be worn at winter tactical events only.

Camouflage Clothing
It is known that GD as an ‘elite’ regiment, received issues of Splinter pattern smocks and helmet covers, which became available in 1942.
Until then like the average "Landser" GD members would have had only their Zeltbahn (shelter quarter) .
Tan/Water or Italian camouflage patterns not permitted (except at private events ) or late war shows.
Uniform
Below are descriptions of common uniform items the German soldier was issued with.

Steel Helmet (Stahlhelm)
M35, M40 or M42 pattern correct liner with leather chin strap. No Spanish, Bundeswehr or Feuerwehr helmets permitted. Single Army eagle decal on correct side of helmet.
All helmets will be painted a uniform grey colour (The paint code for this is RAL 7021 SchwarzGrau also known as ‘Panzer Grey’. This must be MATT).

Side Cap (Feldmütze)
M38/40 side caps. Must be an exact reproduction with correct insignia.
Waffenfarbe (branch of service chevrons, also known as a Soutache) must also be present.

Tunic (Feldbluse)
M36 pattern field grey wool with correct insignia and original / correct pattern buttons.
Field dressings to be carried in the special inner pocket (If owned).
Must be an exact reproduction from an approved supplier. No Swedish conversions permitted.
